Total $ Raised: $571.57 (this amount was raised through one program
and one event detailed below)
Details: Childhelp USA is a Stop Child Abuse program. They are involved in education, prevention,
and treatment of child abuse victims.
The Scared for One Night—Not
for Life program was designed to have many facets. Unfortunately, due to many factors, we didn't progress as far as
we would have liked to for this (time ran out). With programs and materials in place, we hope to do more with the
program next year.
Sub-Program: Boo-Not BooHoo.
$417.57 (this is part of total of $571.57 for the Scared for One
Night—Not for Life program)
We created $1 and $5 ghosts and got local resteraunts, bars,
and merchants to sell them to their customers.
We developed a program package to sell in the program which included
letters from WAPHC & ChildHelp USA, and fact sheets (though I was surprised
that the charity did not already have fact sheets on hand.) We also designed and created a counter card
to support the local establishment's efforts.
Unfortunately as time ran
out, we were only able to get 5 resteraunts to participate. To make matters worse, one of them went out
of business during the program, and we were never able to find out or recover
any donations that may have been made there.
We were only able to get 10
members to work on this project at all.
I found that many members did not particularly like to make
"sales" type calls on resteraunts—even for a good cause. We expect to be able to get more support for
this next year, as many of the members saw how easy it really was.
Event: Redskins Ticket Raffle.--$154.00 (this is part of total of $571.57 for the
Scared for One Night—Not for Life program)
Kilroys donated a pair of
Redskins tickets to raffle off on our Halloween party. 42 members participated in this promotion.
