Here is a winning chili at the World Championships. While you cannot use
this recipe in the competition, it may give you some insight on how to
make chili and what it takes to make a winning one.
Znajero Red Chli by Maud Swick
Ingredients
- 3 lbs course ground/cubed beef
- 1 cup onioin
- 5 garlic pods (head)
- 2 ortega chili peppers
- 1 can chicken broth
- 10 Tbl spoons Chili powder
- 1 ½ Tbls spoons cumin
- 1 Tbl spoon hot new mexico powder
- 1 Can Tomato sauce
- Salt, Salt, Salt
Directions
- Sautee meat and onions in 1 teaspoon Wesson oil
- Add to the chicken broth
- Simmer 1 hour
- Then add:
- 1 can tomato sauce
- chili peppers
- chili powders and cumin
- Simmer 1 hour
- Salt to taste
